This Senior Income Tax Accountant role reports to the Senior Tax Manager and the Tax Director. You will play a central role in all facets of the tax department. This includes income tax provision, US and international tax compliance, indirect taxes, and strategic tax consulting duties. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of related work experience. This experience should come from working in the Tax Department of an international, multi-state corporation. Previous experience in Public Accounting is strongly preferred.

- Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is strongly preferred.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent, Master of Science in Taxation (MST).
- Technical Acumen: A Strong technical tax background is required. This includes deep tax research, solid planning skills, and impeccable compliance skills.
- GAAP Knowledge: A working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its specific tax impacts on financial statements is essential.

- Tax Provision: Assist in preparing Idera’s complex income tax accounting. This relates to Idera’s U.S. financial statement income tax provision under ASC 740. This includes provisions for all international subsidiaries.
- Estimated Payments: Calculate and process timely payment of all necessary income tax estimated payments and extension payments for various jurisdictions.
- GAAP Alignment: Ensure all tax calculations and filings adhere strictly to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Document and report conclusions on tax research and analysis.
2. U.S. and International Tax Compliance
- Form 1120: Gather required information and prepare all necessary U.S. income tax return schedules. This supports Idera’s consolidated corporate Form 1120 filing.
- International Reporting: Handle complex schedules associated with Idera’s international subsidiaries. This includes Form 5471 (Controlled Foreign Corporations), Form 8858 (Foreign Disregarded Entities), and calculating Foreign Tax Credits (FTC).
- Tax Reform Provisions: Accurately calculate and apply key U.S. tax reform provisions. This includes the Section 163(j) interest limitation, Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income (GILTI), and Foreign-Derived Intangible Income (FDII). These are high-value compliance areas.
3. Jurisdiction, Audits, and Strategy
- Nexus Determination: Proactively determine jurisdictional nexus globally. Ensure the Company is properly registered to do business in every jurisdiction where required. This prevents costly compliance failures.
- Audit Management: Assist in managing and coordinating both US income tax and indirect tax audits. Gather documentation and interface with auditors professionally.
- Acquisition Integration: Assist in the complex process of acquisition integration. Incorporate newly acquired companies into the Company’s established tax compliance processes smoothly and accurately.
- Regulatory Change: Maintain current knowledge of changing tax laws and regulations. Identify necessary changes and assist in their strategic implementation across the organization.
- Special Projects: Assist the Tax Director with various income tax and indirect tax projects. Research and analyze complex tax issues, clearly documenting and reporting all conclusions.
