This Sr. QA Engineer role is a key position on the engineering team. The job focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of a large-scale Healthcare SaaS platform. The work includes building automation, validating APIs, checking complex workflows, and supporting a culture of quality across the company. The position is fully remote for applicants located in EST or CST time zones in the United States.

About the Role


As a senior member of the QA team, you will design and maintain test strategies that support a fast-moving development environment. Your work will help ensure consistent releases and stable functionality for both internal users and external partners. You will collaborate with engineers, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and build solid test coverage.

This position needs someone who has managed both manual testing and automation frameworks, especially for distributed software deployed in cloud environments like AWS. Experience in the healthcare domain is essential because the system handles sensitive data and industry standards such as HIPAA, HL7, X12, and FHIR.

You will work independently, but you’ll also support junior team members and contribute ideas that strengthen the overall QA process.

Key Responsibilities


Core Duties

  • Create, manage, and refine test strategies based on clear product requirements.
  • Build scalable automation for functional, regression, performance, and smoke testing.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Identify defects, document them, and verify resolutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to achieve full test coverage.
  • Provide leadership within the QA group and help guide testing decisions.
  • Participate in agile practices such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Review and improve testing methodologies to increase speed and accuracy.
  • Mentor junior QA team members and support their growth.

Additional Duties

  • Support special assignments given by supervisors or leadership.
  • Travel up to 10 percent when needed.

Required Skills and Experience


This role needs someone with strong technical experience and a deep understanding of quality assurance. You should feel comfortable testing SaaS applications, analyzing data, and working with API tools.

Education and Background

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Over five years of QA engineering experience with manual and automated testing.
  • At least three years working with Healthcare domain workflows and transactions.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, HL7, X12, FHIR, JSON, and XML.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, backend validation, and data checks.
  • Knowledge of SaaS architecture, distributed systems, and cloud environments like AWS.
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience testing web applications, mobile applications, and APIs.
  • Ability to break down complex workflows and write in-depth test scenarios.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-moving, agile environment.
  • Comfort using AI tools to responsibly enhance productivity.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with tools like JMeter or LoadRunner for performance testing.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipeline architecture.
  • Certifications such as ISTQB or similar are a plus.

Salary and Benefits


The expected pay range for this position is $110,000 to $125,000 per year. Starting compensation depends on experience, location, education, and overall performance during the hiring process.
