IS International Services is hiring an AI Application Engineer who wants to solve tough engineering problems with smart automation tools. This role suits someone who enjoys building useful software that removes manual work. If you like turning complex tasks into clean, efficient, and automated workflows, this job offers strong career growth.
You will work with engineering, operations, and field teams. Your tools will support hardware design, software deployment, documentation, logistics, and commissioning. The goal is to bring speed and clarity to technical workflows. The company sees this position as a true force multiplier for multiple departments.
This role reports directly to the CTO. You will collaborate with senior engineers, field technicians, and software developers. Every tool you build will have a clear and immediate impact. You do not need years of experience. You only need talent, focus, and the desire to learn fast. The right mindset will help you grow into a reliable AI automation engineer.
About the Role
As an AI Application Engineer, you will create automation tools that support electrical engineering, documentation, and field operations. You will build Python scripts, design RAG pipelines, and develop tools powered by LLMs. You will also support tasks that enhance documentation speed and accuracy.
The company needs someone who can observe a complex process and simplify it into a straightforward tool. You will work with data, drawings, field logs, and technical standards. Your tools will help reduce errors and improve output quality.
This role requires curiosity, attention to detail, and a passion for building. You will touch every stage of the engineering cycle. Your work will make design teams faster. You will help operations teams avoid delays. You will support field teams by giving them quick access to critical information.
Key Responsibilities
Below is a detailed look at how you will contribute across the organization.
1. Design and Hardware Automation
You will create tools that simplify work for engineering teams. These tools help reduce repetitive tasks and improve accuracy during design.
Workflow Scripting
You will write Python scripts that create 2D installation drawings for each project. These drawings include conduit entries, layouts, and site-specific information. You will also generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) automatically. This removes human error and speeds up early design stages.
Technical Assistants with RAG
You will build RAG pipelines that act as smart assistants for engineers. These tools will help them find answers from technical codes like UL 9540, NFPA 855, and IEEE 693. Your work will ensure accuracy and reduce the time needed to search through dense documents.
Logistics Optimization Tools
You will help the logistics team organize container loads. Your tools will analyze weight, volume, and layout options. This ensures safe and efficient shipping during the design phase. These tools will save money and reduce mistakes related to container planning.
2. Software and Firmware Automation
You will support software teams by building automation systems that simplify deployment and configuration.
Automation Playbooks
You will help create a system that builds process playbooks for firmware and software deployment. These tools may use Ansible or similar technologies. Your work will help developers configure systems more efficiently.
Industrial System Code Generation
You will build a system that converts Modbus maps into Structured Text for Codesys. This will make industrial programming faster and more accurate. Your work will also improve consistency across different field units.
3. Field and Operations Intelligence
Field teams work in complex environments. You will create tools that make their work easier and safer.
Next-Generation Documentation
You will help move documentation from static PDFs to dynamic systems. Your pipelines will collect engineering data and generate updated manuals and checklists. This system helps field teams work with accurate, real-time information.
Field Support Agents
You will build LLM-powered agents that technicians can query during installation or troubleshooting. These field support agents can answer questions about torque values, wiring details, or safety steps. This support reduces delays and speeds up installations.
Feedback Loop Development
You will build data pipelines that collect logs, photos, and field reports. These pipelines send that data back to design teams. This helps improve product quality and future product versions.
4. Data and Commissioning Tools
You will support the commissioning process by building tools that help teams verify each step.
Digitized Commissioning Tools
You will develop tools that track and validate commissioning checklists. These tools help ensure that power-up sequences follow the correct steps. This reduces risk during deployment.
Data Virtualization
You will standardize fleet data for future analysis. You will prepare that data for team dashboards and machine learning. Your work will help create clean structures for analytics and model validation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
This role requires strong technical and communication skills. You should be able to work across teams and turn ideas into usable software.
Technical Competencies
Core Coding Skills
You must know Python well. You should also understand REST APIs, structured files, and SQL. You will work with JSON, XML, and Pandas.
AI and LLM Development
You need hands-on experience with LLMs. This includes OpenAI API, Anthropic models, LangChain, and vector databases. You must know how to reduce hallucinations and maintain accuracy.
Document Pipeline Knowledge
Experience with document generation tools such as template engines, LaTeX, or PDF systems is helpful. These tools are used to create dynamic manuals and reports.
Power Systems and Engineering Understanding
You must understand basic power system diagrams. You should know terms like kV, MW, and MWh. You should recognize transformers, inverters, and switchgear. This helps you communicate well with electrical engineers. Experience in CAD scripting is a plus.
Professional Attributes
Clear Communication
You must listen carefully to engineers and turn their needs into software requirements.
Practical Thinking
You should focus on impact. You should use AI as a tool for real solutions, not hype.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 0 to 2 years of experience
- Internships and university projects count
- You must be able to describe a real workflow automation project
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
You may need to stand or walk during field tasks. You may lift up to 25 pounds often and up to 50 pounds sometimes. Hearing protection may be needed in certain areas. Travel may include domestic or international trips.
Why This Role Matters
This role is important because it removes friction in engineering workflows. You will help teams avoid delays. Your tools will support safety, quality, and reliability. Every script you write will bring value to real engineering teams.
